Veronica and Brent
It was such a pleasure working with Veronica and Brent. Over the months and months planning a wedding we really got to know them well. The love Veronica and Brent share between each other is undeniable,
and was a lovely thing to witness.
We asked Veronica to share her love story leading up to her wedding date. . . .
How their story began . . . .
Brent and I first met through mutual friends. We met at Clearbrook Park in Abbotsford going to see a friend play baseball, but we ended up playing a mini-game of football with friends instead. Little did we know football wasn’t going to be something we did together only the first day we met, but something that is special to both of us and we still do together to this day. After that weekend Brent had gone back to Kamloops for school and we kept in touch through Facebook. When he came back at the end of his semester we started seeing each other, and 6 years later here we are getting married.
The Proposal . . . .
Brent proposed on a surprise trip to Whistler that he had planned. He had been trying to find the right time to do it all night, and then got down on one knee in the village near our hotel and popped the question. Of course I said yes, then we hugged and I cried, then we went to celebrate with some beers. It was an amazing weekend as we got to spend our first weekend as an engaged couple in whistler zip-lining and just spending quality time with each other.
The planning process . . . .
We waited until the New Year to start the planning process. July 18, 2015 became our wedding date when we booked a beautiful reception hall and ceremony venue, Old Orchard Hall in Port Moody and St. Luke’s Parish in Maple Ridge. As we started to develop the décor and theme ideas I first fell in love with the colour combination of coral and navy blue. We then decided on a rustic romantic theme. Soon after we met Tiffany and Lindsay at the Grand Wedding Show and booked them as our wedding planners. We are so happy we found them to help because we were very overwhelmed with all the work involved with planning a wedding.
What I loved and drove me crazy about the planning process was all the crafts from card making to all the extra décor items I made. It was definitely fun getting to make invitations with my friends and family but the part that drove me crazy was all the small projects I put on myself that made me spend hours cutting paper. The one tip that I would suggest to engaged couples is let go and rely on others to also help out. I should have probably delegated more tasks to others in order to take stress off myself. Another tip for the day, which people kept reminding me of, was to let things go. If things don`t go quite as planned don`t stress and let the planners or someone else handle it because those small things won`t matter in the end.
The big day . . .
The wedding day turned out amazingly! It is so great to finally see everything put together because you imagine how the décor will look, but actually seeing everything come together makes the day perfect, and I have In Check Events to thank for putting it all together. We had done our first look before the ceremony and I would definitely recommend doing a first look. The first look gave me and my husband the time to take everything in and take the nerves away. We were able to have that intimate moment where we see each other for the first time to ourselves, and I wouldn`t change a thing about it. My favorite memory of the reception was my husband`s garter toss dance. It was shocking to all of our guests when he handcuffed me and started dancing in front of me like I`ve never seen then removing my garter, HIGHLIGHT of my night!
Thanks to all the amazing vendors we worked with to make this wedding all come together!
