Budget… the word most brides dread. We seem to be discussing this “word”with many of our brides-to-be recently. Some have one, some don’t, some have an idea of one, but the one thing they all have in common is they all need one. After announcing the engagement and celebrating with family, the first thing any couple should discuss before venue, catering, flowers or the dress is the budget. The budget should be a number, whether it is 6,000, 16,000 or 60,000, this is the starting point for the breakdown of how the money should be allocated. This number should include all financial contributions from family, friends and the couple.
Once there is a number in place the breakdown begins. There are 6 basic categories in the budget breakdown and several sub-categories. Each category and sub-category has a percentage attached to it.The 6 basic categories are: Reception, Clothing, Floral and Decor, Music, Photography and Miscellaneous. Reception takes up 50% of the budget and the other categories take up 10% each.
We will be sharing more on each of these categories, what they include and how they break down further in upcoming blog posts. If you have any questions about budgets, budget templates or about your wedding in general, we would love to hear from you!
