THEMES & DECOR When it comes to this years wedding themes and decor, many brides are looking to the book/film "The Great Gatsby" for inspiration. Expect to see use of art deco, lots of hanging decor, elaborate decorations, very elegant and traditional weddings. All night weddings and after parties are also gaining in popularity. With additional venues chosen to continue the party until the wee hours of the morning.
COLORS & PATTERNS The color of year was announced to be radiant orchard, a beautiful purple hue. Other trends in color choices will include pink and metallic color schemes. Soft patterns, like elegant floral prints will also be popular.
FLOWERS Flowers, flowers, flowers! Flowers have always been a major part of wedding decor but this year you can expect to see much more. Large arrangements, and garlands are showing a big come back. You can also expect dahlias and peonies to take the lead for flower choices this year.
INVITATIONS & FAVORS Goodbye large modern invites, smaller invitation styles will become popular this year. Some may even decorated with freehand illustrations. Also trending, more brides are deciding to give welcome gifts to guest arriving from out of town opposed to favors given at the wedding.
WEDDING ATTIRE Out goes the strapless wedding dresses! This year brides seem to be moving more towards embellished halter top necklines and showing a little more skin with very low backs.While a popular color for bridesmaids dresses will be a mint green.
CAKES & DINING From cupcakes to naked cakes… You may start seeing brides deciding to go with an un-iced wedding cake, where the layers and inside of the cake are visible. While the family style dinning of long tables is popular pick for 2014 weddings.
MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT Trends for music and entertainment this year are all about mixing the old with the new. Many brides are taking the traditional route of musicians playing at the ceremony but they are putting a new spin on it by asking them to play new age music. Unique entertainment like dancers and other performers at the reception is also quickly gaining popularity.
